11% of the Dutch homes use smart security equipment

According to the Smart Home Monitor 2017 nearly 800.000 Dutch households use security and safety appliances to protect their property. This concerns mostly IP and surveillance cameras, but the biggest growth potential is measured for smoke, CO and CO2 detectors. This year 15 percent of the consumers (1,2 million households) consider the purchase of such equipment.
Multiscope questioned 5.500 consumers for its annual Smart Home Monitor. In 2017 nearly 11 percent of the Dutch households is equipped with smart appliances, mostly camera systems. A growing part of the consumers – 10 % in 2016 compared to 15 % in 2017 – is interested in smart fire detection systems and detectors of toxic gas, preferably in combination with a subscription to an alarm center. According to the same study Foscam is the Dutch marketleader for smart cameras. Verisure, HomeWizard and Woonveilig are the biggest suppliers of smart security systems. And Honeywell leads the market of smart detectors.
